Who we are
Address Erased is a service of Sidekick Accounting Ltd, registered in England and Wales (no. 12250170) at 5th Floor, 167-169 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5PF. Sidekick Accounting Ltd is the controller of the personal data described here.
Contact us about your data at support@addresserased.co.uk.
What we collect
When you run a free scan
- what you search for (a company name or number, or a person's name)
- information from the public Companies House register about the companies and officers found, including copies of the filed documents
- a scrambled version of your IP address, so we can limit misuse of the free scan
Scan results on our website only ever show the postcode district of an address (for example LS6), never the full address.
If you ask us to email your results
- your email address, and whether you'd like occasional updates from us
When you place an order
- your name, any former names, date of birth and email address
- the home addresses you want removed, and a replacement correspondence address if Companies House needs one
- the country you live in, and business details if you ask for a business invoice
- payment details, which are handled by Stripe. We never see your full card number.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
- To provide the service you've ordered (performance of a contract): preparing and sending your removal application, paying the Companies House fee for you, and keeping you updated.
- To meet our legal obligations (legal obligation): keeping accounting, VAT and professional records.
- To run the free scan and protect it from misuse (legitimate interests): helping people find and remove their personal details from the register, which is the reason the service exists, and stopping the scan being used to collect information about other people.
- To send occasional updates (consent): only if you ticked the box. You can unsubscribe from any email.
Scanning the public register
The Companies House register is public. Anyone can search it and download documents for free. Our scan reads the same documents to find where personal details appear, so the person they belong to can ask for them to be removed.
Our legitimate interest is in helping people protect their own details. To keep this fair to everyone named on the register:
- results show postcode districts only, never full addresses or full dates of birth
- we only file a removal application for the person named, using details they give us
- we don't publish pages about individual people or companies
- we limit how many scans can be run
Some documents are read with the help of an AI model provided by Anthropic, which processes the page images for us and doesn't keep them or use them for training.
How long we keep it
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Copies of documents downloaded from Companies House | 30 days |
| Scans that don't lead to an order | 90 days |
| Email address for your results | Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it |
| Orders, applications, invoices and the details you gave us | Until Companies House has dealt with every document on your order, then 6 years, to meet accounting, tax and professional record-keeping rules |
Who we share it with
- Companies House, to make your removal application
- Stripe, to take payment
- Supabase (database and file storage), Vercel (website hosting), Fly.io (scanning service) and Resend (email), which store or process data for us under contract
- Anthropic, to read the images of paper filings during a scan
- our professional body or regulators, if they require it
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK's approved contract clauses.
We don't sell your data.
