Your home address is on the public register if you've ever been a director, secretary, shareholder or PSC, and in some cases even if you only signed up as a subscriber. You can remove your home address from Companies House, but only by applying, document by document.
The short version is this. You complete form SR01, pay £34 per document through GOV.UK Pay, and email the form with your payment reference to dsr@companieshouse.gov.uk. Companies House then decides each document. We do the finding, listing and filing for you.

How to remove my address from Companies House: the process in short
Most people hit the same wall. They know their address is somewhere on the register, but they don't know which documents carry it. Each one counts towards the fee, and each one has to be listed correctly.
That's why the scan comes first. The free scan reads every filing since 2003, including handwritten paper forms, and shows what it finds as postcode districts only. If you want the detail on where addresses hide, our guide to checking every document on the register walks through it.
Who can remove their home address from Companies House?
Companies House address removal is an application by the individual whose details appear on the document. In most cases that means you held a role in the company or signed up to it.
Who can apply to remove their details
| Can apply? | |
|---|---|
| Director | ✓Yes |
| Company secretary | ✓Yes |
| Person with significant control (PSC) | ✓Yes |
| Shareholder or member | ✓Yes |
| Subscriber to the memorandumThe original founding shareholders | ✓Yes |
| Auditor who signed a document | ✗No |
| Solicitor who signed a document | ✗No |
| Bank staff who signed a document | ✗No |
Directors and secretaries are the obvious cases. Shareholders and members often forget they qualify, because their address sits in the incorporation documents or in annual filings rather than in an appointment form.
The list is based on the GOV.UK table of documents Companies House can suppress, which names directors, secretaries, members, PSCs, subscribers and permanent representatives. Auditors and solicitors don't appear on it.
What can you remove from the Companies House register?
An application can cover four kinds of personal detail. Each has its own conditions.
| Detail | What goes | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Home address | The address or part of it | Documents registered from 1 January 2003 |
| Signature | The signature, printed name stays | Not on charge instruments or mortgage deeds |
| Day of birth | The day only, month and year stay | Documents filed before 10 October 2015 |
| Business occupation | The occupation | Only where stating it was required |
Home address is the one most people come for, and it's the focus of this page. If you also want the others dealt with in the same application, we have separate guides on removing your date of birth and removing your signature.
The 2003 window
Only documents registered on or after 1 January 2003 can be suppressed. If your address sits on a 1999 filing, that's outside the window. Our scan only looks at the period that can be removed, so you won't pay for a document that can't go.
Why the date of birth rule matters
Companies House lets you remove the day of your date of birth from documents filed before 10 October 2015. The month and year stay on the register. It's worth adding to the same application because you've already got the paperwork open.
How do you hide your address on Companies House if it's your registered office?
This is where applications go wrong most often.
If you've worked from home and used your house as the company's registered office, our guide to home addresses used as a registered office covers the AD01 step in detail. For companies that no longer exist, see removing your address from a dissolved company's records.
Do you need a replacement address?
Only in one situation. If your home is still your current service or correspondence address in a live role, Companies House needs a replacement. For resigned officers, dissolved companies, or a home that was only ever a former registered office, you don't need one. In the former registered office case, Companies House hides part of the address instead, for example by showing only the first part of the postcode.
If you're not sure which address is public and which is protected, read our explanation of the director service address.
What does it cost to suppress your home address at Companies House?
Companies House charges £34 per document. That's the whole official cost. The number of documents is what moves the total, and it's often more than people expect, because every annual return, appointment and change of details can carry your address.
Our pricing is £69 for the first document and £49 for each additional document, per person, both including the £34 Companies House fee. The Companies House fee has no VAT, and our service fee includes VAT at 20%.
Total price by number of documents
| 1 document | £69 |
|---|---|
| 2 documents | £118 |
| 3 documents | £167 |
| 5 documents | £265 |
| 10 documents | £510 |
For 5 documents, £170 of the £265 goes to Companies House. For 10 documents, £340 of the £510 does.

Start with the scan
You can't price an application until you know how many documents carry your address. That's why we start free. Run the scan at addresserased.co.uk, see the count, and decide from there.
If you want to understand the form first, what SR01 is and who it's for is a good starting point. Address Erased is independent and isn't affiliated with Companies House.
Questions
How do I remove my address from Companies House?
You send form SR01 to Companies House by email to dsr@companieshouse.gov.uk, with the £34 per document fee already paid through GOV.UK Pay and the payment reference included. The form lists each document that shows your address. We can scan the register, build the list and file it for you.
Can I hide my address on Companies House for free?
No. Companies House charges £34 for each document you ask it to suppress, and it rejects applications that don't include the payment reference. Our free scan costs nothing, but it only tells you where your details appear.
Will my address disappear from every document?
It disappears from the documents listed on your application that Companies House accepts. Only documents registered on or after 1 January 2003 qualify, and a live company's current registered office has to be changed first. Anything you don't list stays public.
Can I remove my address if I'm still a director?
Yes, but you'll need a replacement address if your home is still your service or correspondence address in a live role. Companies House needs somewhere to send official post, and that address becomes the public one.
What happens if Companies House rejects a document?
Companies House decides each document, and a rejection means that document stays public. With us, you get a refund on any document Companies House rejects, and we check the common rejection causes before we file.
Can my accountant or solicitor apply for me?
They can prepare and send the application for you, but the application is made by you as the individual. People who only signed company documents in a professional role, such as auditors or solicitors, can't apply for removal of details in those documents unless they're also an officer, member, PSC or subscriber.
